Ernst Vranckx, born in Leuven April 3, 1966, began his musical career in the late 1980s.
In 1994 he wins the Prix Nicolas Dor with flutist Stefan Bracaval. Together they record the album "Aquarelle".
This is followed by his work with the Chris Joris Experience where he does part of the compositions and arrangements. Their album "Live" enjoys great success.
The music of Ernst Vranckx is described as European Cool with Ethnic and Classical influences. This blend also resonates far beyond the borders. Thus, his song "The Miner's Tale" is picked up in the States and Canada (David Lewis CFMU).
This was followed by a collaboration with trumpeter Kenny Wheeler. This results in the album " A Child's Blessing" for WERF. The same label releases his quintet album "Songs & Dances".
Over the years Ernst Vranckx has played concerts, festivals, radio and TV sessions throughout Europe, Southern Africa and China.
In recent years he has been working with German producer Ralf Kemper ( Alan Broadbent, Arturo Sandoval, Jimmy Scott...). For his label, Eden River Records, he records "Things as they Are" with double bassist Paul G. Ulrich and drummer Kris Duerinckx. In 2022 follows the project with New Zealand saxophonist Hayden Chisholm. With him accompanied by double bassist David Helm and again Kris Duerinckx on drums, there is then the release of "Black is the Colour."
